  1. Entertainment Weekly has an interview Sam Mendes this week and a photo of Javier and Daniel (okay so the blonde hair is starting to grow on me), it sounds like Sam kind of let Javier come up with his character.

  2. I have no problem with Javier’s blond hair. It makes Javier look more creepy. By the way, several well known directors were asked to name their top ten films of all time. Michael Mann put Biutiful on the list. I love that film and think that it is highly underrated. Here is his list:

    Michael Mann
“Apocalypse Now” (1979, dir. Francis Ford Coppola)
“Battleship Potemkin” (1925, dir. Sergei Eisenstein)
“Citizen Kane” (1941, dir. Orson Welles)
    “Avatar” (2009, dir. James Cameron)
“Dr. Strangelove” (1964, dir. Stanley Kubrick)
“Biutiful” (2010, dir. Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu)
“My Darling Clementine” (1946, dir. John Ford)
“The Passion Of Joan Of Arc” (1928, dir. Carl Theodor Dreyer)
“Raging Bull” (1980, dir. Martin Scorsese)
“The Wild Bunch” (1969, dir. Sam Peckinpah)

  3. I completely agree with you Princess, I think if Biutiful had been bought by a bigger film company (like Weinstein) Javier would have had a better chance during the awards season, I like Colin Firth, but the King’s Speech was not his best film, but since he lost the year before it seemed like the movie industry thought they owed it to him, leaving the rest of the actors in the cold during awards season.

  4. Well, many distributors were afraid to buy Biutiful. It is a raw film. But Javier really deserved to win. Colin Firth was good but he was even better the previous year. Colin was good but Javier was outstanding.

Thanks for the link Cat. I can’t wait to see this.

By the way, To the Wonder will premiere in Venice on Sunday, September 2nd. So we will have to wait only a few more weeks to find out about that film. And Michael Mann is the Jury President.
