Press conference before the Oscar Night/Conferencia de prensa antes de los Oscar

Today, Javier and Iñarritu had a special meeting with the mexican and spanish media 48 hours before the big day.

As many of us know, Javier will present an award next Sunday. Well, I can tell you that he won’t present an award but two. He will be in charge of announcing the winners for Best Original Screenplay and Best Adapted Screenplay. He and Josh Brolin will announce the winners.  Cool!!

Javier said:  “Esto sí pone nervioso.

“This make me nervous. I owed it to the Academy. I offered it last year but I was filming and I couldn’t… Now, I’ll just grab Josh Brolin’s arm, who is a great friend, and I’ll let him talk.”

By the way, the articles I found on the internet were in SPANISH. So, I know I didn’t write them but I read them and I’m doing MY OWN REVIEW of what I think it’s important. Before getting angry at me, refuting or/and claiming something, I just can say : Sí te queda el saco, póntelo ;) (sorry, it’s in spanish ;) ) Peace and Love!!! 😉

  1. I see your comment on twitter about him saying this in the press conference:

Well, you are right about Benigni , he got a nom and also won for an italian speaking performance. But Benigni isn’t the only one… there are other actors and actress that got noms, too. To name just the actors, I remember Marcello Mastroianni (3 noms), Giancarlo Giannini, Massimo Troisi, Gerard Depardieu.
But to be honest, I really don’t think he said that sentence…not in that way, at least. I think he talked about the first time for a spanish speaking performance by a male actor getting a nom. He said it in other interviews and i can’t think he’s so ignorant in cinema’s history that he doesn’t know about other foreign speaking performance which got nominations. I think the person who wrote that article changed a bit his words….it something happens often and not only with him, of course.

    • Thanks Rose for your reply 😉
Javier didn’t said that. It was Alejandro Gonzalez Iñarritu. In the original twitter I posted the name of Gonzalez iñarritu but you know that it’s impossible to write all in 140 characters. So when I edited it, I missed to post the name of the person who said that. Sorry, oops😛
I knew there were more actors but I didn’t who they were. All of them (almost) from your country 😉
In every newspapers and movie magazines there are many anecdotes of past editions of the Oscar. Many of them mentioned that Benigni would probably keep “this title”, because the chances that this happen again (Javier’s case) were minimum. That’s why I remembered the detail.😉
